Monumental 9 - Cultural Tours in the Western Balkans

Project Description:
The main objective of this project is to help create preconditions for new tourism product development to increase youth employment and income generating activities through engaging micro-localities, youth greeters and vloggers in regional co-operation programmes. All the activities are intended to contribute to the overall objective with specific focus on activities designed to engage youth from local communities in regional intercultural exchange programmes to work together on a new tourist product development.

Project objectives:
• Create pre-conditions for new tourism product development to increase youth employment and income generating activities through the engagement of micro-localities in the Western Balkans;
• Develop youth friendly innovative promotional actions to provide orientation and publicise the narrative of the nine magnificent monuments from World War II;
• Creation of the youth-friendly online platform Balkan Monumental 9 Trail to present historical sites, locations and cultural heritage of the region;
• Develop regional pilot youth intercultural exchange programmes including exploration, storytelling, digitalisation of theis new cultural tourism product;
• Help increase attractiveness for tourist development and income generating activities at micro-localities;
Project Activities:
• Capacity building and Training Manual for greeters and vloggers;
• Desk research, establishment of the online platform Balkan Monumental 9 Trail;
• Three field pilot tours to create the Monuments’ narrative and virtual tour;
• Coordination of local and regional visibility activities;

1. Improvement of local capacities for creating the community of practice in tourist

3. Increase of income generating activities in micro localities across the Western Balkans countries;
4. Nine Monuments’ virtual tour guide with narratives, storytelling, developed by LDA young greeters and vloggers;
5. Improvement of BNLD’s capacities for engaging youth in intercultural exchange programmes.
