In the framework of Balkan regional platform for youth participation and dialogue, on 3rd November 2016 the third Skype panel on the topic of „Quality of educational system“ was held. It was organized by LDA Zavidovići. „Quality of educational system“ is the problem that effect all youngsters in Western Balkan countries.
During the third online panel we had the opportunity to hear an experience from two professors of English language: Sanela Ahmić and Fatmira Demiri – Cerovac, as well as Amela Hodzic who is a parent of secondary school student. The professors gave their opinion about the challenges that they face in their every day work in schools and they offered possible solutions for improvement of educational system.
The professors highlighted few problems that they are facing in their work. One of the problems is that many students are not ready to fully participate in educational activities as well as in extra-curricular activities. The professors also mentioned that there is not a official systematic way to evaluate the work of teachers and the way they transfer the knowledge to the students. The professors mentioned that in our educational system there is no way to “punish” professors who don’t do their job properly.
During the panel students who were participants in panel shared their opinion about their educational system. We had the opportunity to hear an experience by a parent of student from secondary school, who pointed out that young persons who finish primary school are faced with problems when they need to enter in secondary school - they don’t have an idea about the programme in secondary schools or what they could expect in these high schools. Also, there is a problem when students need to go at University - they don’t have idea about their preferred field of studying.
These online panels enabled discussion, exchange of practices and comparative cross-cultural view on selected common topics relevant for youth in the region. Particular attention is put on the topics related to most vulnerable youth, while one of the topics will be connected with the theme of a European Year 2016. Each panel is filmed and uploaded on the regional website of the platform in order to inform the wider public.
