In October 2020, the organisation "Balkan Development Center" implemented a survey on budget priorities in the municipality of Vrnjačka Banja. In order to hear the voice of the citizens of Vrnjačka Banja, especially young people, in cooperation with the local self-government of Vrnjačka Banja there was a poll for expressing their views.
A presentation of LSGs was also prepared by the project team. However, there were limitations because of the COVID-19 restrictions and reduced duration of school lessons. It was agreed with the two secondary schools that the prepared presentations would be sent to the people by their teachers using the online teaching platform which they use in their daily work. Both the Secondary Tourism and Hospitality School and the Gymnasium directors sent the presentations. Additionally, the presentation was also conducted in person by the project team member in the classroom with 4 different groups. This was also an opportunity to directly present the on-line survey to the people and encourage them to take part in the research.
The presentation consisted of information about the legal set-up of the LSG, obligations and jurisdictions they have defined by the Law, the organs of the LSG, the specific organization of the LSG Administration of Vrnjačka Banja, information on direct participation of citizens in the work and decision making processes defined in the municipal Statute, and information about each of the foreseen mechanisms.
Access to the online survey is possible on the website of the Municipality of Vrnjačka Banja and on the website of the Catering and Tourism School and Gymnasium of Vrnjačka Banja.
