With great enthusiasm and absolute commitment, 38 years ago on 21th of June, which is on one hand beginning of the summer and on the other World’s day of music the Direction for culture and art has started the long history of Skopje summer, which grew up to be a wonderful tradition that also took place this year. In the past few years according to the carefully compiled program, a lot of performers and ensembles took place, offering the lovers of the art a life time performance in different genres such as music, theater, movies, literacy etc.
This year, Skopje summer will offer 40 amazing summer nights, with about 900 participants and in 52 programming terms filled with; concerts of classical, folk and jazz music; opera and ballet; movie projections; special projects and premieres presented by home and foreign performers from over 16 countries in the world. The grand opening of the Skopje summer this year was marked with the performance of Omer Faruk Tekbilek (USA/Turkey) and his ansambl in Macedonian Opera and Ballet.
On the press conference Tekbilek pointed out that he couldn’t be happier for coming to Skopje and the opportunity to be a part of such a beautiful tradition. He stated that in his musical career was assured that the music is the best thing that can unite and bring us all together. He was especially glad to open this festival which with the art and the music will bring the people closer together regardless of the language and ethnicity.
So we invite everyone who are interested in music and art and want to have an amаzing night to be a part of one more exciting edition of Skopje summer, which is important cultural symbol of Skopje and Macedonia in general.
