Graffiti - Pokreni se! – Move Yourself!

Graffiti - Pokreni se! – Move Yourself!

On the 15th, 16th and 17th of July , high school students and activists from Zavidovići worked on wall design at the Partizan Sports Center, on the implementation of the "Pokreni se ( Move yourself)!" project.

The bigest share of project implementation was taken by Secondary school students, and the project was funded from the Social Day of the Association of High School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina and through the Local Youth Fund within the Balkan Regional Platform for Youth Participation and Dialogue.

The project idea is to send a clear affirmative message to school students and all the young people in our local community.

Secondary school students from Zavidovici held two workshops, after which they approached the implementation of a concrete idea with the help of Jasmina Imamović, an artist from Zavidovici, who was drawing a central message along the motives of our city.

The wall on which the graffity needed to be drawn was in a really bad shape, so the Secondary school students with the assist of  professionals workers have repaired the wall and made it possible to draw the graffiti on the wall.

- The very aim of our project is to "awaken" young people in our local community. We have just decided on this kind of action that involves the participation of a large number of young people, as they can explore their activism and send a message to the general public as well as promote art as a new way of communicating  and develop their creativity. Also, the location where the project was implemented is extremely favorable because of its positioning, as the wall is located at the intersection of local schools, numerous sports facilities, but also close to a large number of coffee shops. In this way, we wanted to show the local population that activism is moving to positive changes“,  the initiatiors of idea told us.

"First of all, it is important to say that young people are designers of this activity, but also implementers. To us, the LDA Zavidovići is really glad that young people used the Local Youth  initiative fund from our European project, "said Dino Sinanovic, a professional associate for youth work.

"Our initiative itself is based on the reconstruction of the wall at the sports ground Partizan, which had no specific purpose other than separating basketball and road terrain and now on the wall we have a  graffiti with the motivational message "Pokreni se (Move yourself)!" which applies to all high school students, young people in our local community, but also to all of our citizens, "said Amar Buljubasic, Project Coordinator.

"What I would like to point out is the support of our citizens, the public, who left positive comments on the web every day, but also on the ground. Also, there was support from local businessmen and companies  who made their contribution to this project. "

The idea of the Secondary school Students was supported trough Local Youth Initiative Fund in the framework of Balkan Regional Platform for Youth Participation and Dialogue.

New opportunities for young people!

We live in a time of rapid and large changes that are leaving their mark on all humanity. The modern age brings us new opportunities for progress in cooperation with other countries. The path to the European Union is a great challenge for Serbia, but it also opens a large number of chances for progress. Although the report of the European Commission presented the progress of Serbia within the chapter "Education and Culture", it is still necessary to work on these topics. We see special concerns among young people who are quite worried about their future, especially when it comes to education.

Youth jobs, schooling, filling the skills void of the workforce — the problem facing the people of Kosovo.

The strength and ability of the workers for whom it is able to adapt to the demands of the businesses can be considered to be one of the most significant factors impacting the development of a favourable atmosphere for other businesses. Kosovo has been marketed as one of the most appropriate investment destinations due to lower labour costs, allowing businesses to minimize running costs and to be more competitive on the market. However, in recent years, more emphasis has been provided in developing countries, especially in the countries of the European Union, to providing a professional workforce capable of responding to the needs of businesses.

EU accession and youth participation on local level

One of the main affected categories by the developments and politics of EU Integration will be the youth. Young people are at the heart of what many scholars refer to as “a crisis of representation in democracy”. In our country, also a fragile post-communist democracy, the situation of the youth is problematic, especially when it comes to participation in decision-making, within political parties or civil society organizations. Because young people are only discovering politics in a period of mistrust, protest, and growing abstention, these new parameters of their relationship to politics will probably continue to influence their future attitudes and behaviors.
