The Second Balkan Regional Youth Forum for Local Democracy - Join us in Mostar, 16th - 18th November 2016

The second annual Regional Youth Forum for Local Democracy will be held from the 16th to the 18th November in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. This year we expect over  80 participants, young people, representatives of local youth groups, local authorities, CSOs and CSO networks from six Western Balkan countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo*, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Albania.

During October, two activities were organized in Mostar as part of the project „Balkan regional Platform for Youth participation and dialogue, by the Debate Section of Gymnasium and the Association of Young psychologists Mostar. The project is supported by EU trough Civil Society Facility Operating Grants to regional thematic associations programme.

Youth activism in Zavidovići

There are over 16 thousand young people living in Zavidovići. After highschool, the youth usually goes to study in the biggest cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina or they try to find a job.

If we look back to the period of 5 years ago, the term of youth activism or volounteering in Zavidovići was not familiar to the youth. The young people of this city weren't active due to lack of organisations or places where they could engage, lack of information, and after all, lack of interest.

Second Skype panel: Youth unemployment – challenges and perspectives

In the framework of Balkan regional platform for youth participation and dialogue, on 19th October, the second Skype panel on the topic of youth unemployment was held, organized by LDA Subotica.

Youth unemployment has been chosen by young people as a topic for the regional panel, as it is a common problem that negatively affects young people in all the Western Balkan countries, being one of the most pressing problems of society nowadays. Therefore, the aim of the panel was to exchange views and provide new perspectives and proposals on this important issue, and potentially motivating young people with advice and new insight.

We were part of “European Volunteering Forum“ in Maribor, Slovenia

In the period from 10th until 14th of October, “European Volunteering Forum” was held in Maribor, Slovenia.
