Apply to be a TED Fellow

Twice a year, the TED Fellows program opens applications to find a new class of extraordinary thinkers and doers. Though we target innovators aged 21 to 40, we encourage anyone over 18 years old to apply.

We look for different applicants than many other leadership-oriented programs. Instead of business people, professionals, policy wonks and government officials, the TED Fellows program focuses on doers, makers, inventors, advocates, filmmakers and photographers, musicians and artists, scientists, entrepreneurs, NGO heads, and human rights activists.

In addition to impressive accomplishment, fine character and a good heart are two very important traits we look for in a every potential TED Fellow. More than anything, this focus on character has defined the success of the TED Fellows program.

The 9th UNESCO Youth Forum – Young Global Citizens for a Sustainable Planet –

The 9th UNESCO Youth Forum – Young Global Citizens for a Sustainable Planet – will take place in Paris, France on the 26th to the 28th October 2015. The forum will bring together over 500 young women and men from all over the world to focus on issues related to sustainable development and global citizenship and ensure that the voices of future generations remain front and centre of the new development agenda.

International Development Youth Forum 2016

1.1. Our Mission and Aims
We aim to create a better future based on diversified values and experiences of youth from both developed and developing countries. We aim to empower youth, who are to become the leaders of the future, by finding solutions to the problems of developing countries, through discussions with their peers from different backgrounds.
1.2. What IDYF 2016 aspires to achieve
Since its establishment in 2012, IDYF has provided opportunities to create solutions to International Development problems, through discussions among youth from every part of the world. 
In IDYF2016, we aim to find effective and feasible solutions. We strongly hope our participants will apply their experiences obtained in IDYF2016 to overcome problems faced in their respective countries.

1.3. About “Agenda Setting” and “Member Selection”
To provide an appropriate program to realize our abovementioned goals, IDYF 2016 will consist of two separate steps: “Agenda Setting” and “Member Selection”.

Research on youth position in Municipality of Vevcani, Macedonia

ALDA Skopje in cooperation with Municipality of Vevcani, on 15 August 2015, organized a focus group on the topic of youth and their influence on social change. The focus group was held in the Youth Center in Vevcani. Living in small community and facing youth challenges was the issue that 15 youngsters from Vecani started discussing and shared their point of view.

Youth Art workshop in Prijedor: „Youth problems in creative expression”

Between the end of July and the beginning of August, Local Democracy Agency Prijedor  organized a Youth Art workshop on the topic of "Youth problems in creative expression”.  The workshop was organized as a part of the project “Balkan regional platform for youth participation and dialogue”
23 young participants expressed their  ideas and thoughts by mixing photography and painting in the same product, hence giving space to boundless creativity and both abstract and direct expression.

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CONFERENCE "European values for the future of SEE countries" - Krusevo 11- 15 of September

The International Youth Conference “European Values for the Future of the SEE Countries“was held for the very first time in 2003. The European values in the SEE countries were a significant issue affecting everyone. Now, 13 years from the organization of the first conference, the topic is still fresh and unanswered, but the political – economic map of the region has notably changed.

The International Youth Conference is a unique place, a cultural crossroad where discussions for: rule of law, democracy, human rights, freedom of speech, free-market economy, political inclusiveness and right of free sexual orientation, are mixing while we are putting together the mosaic of the future.

ACTIVITIES OF YOUTH INFO POINT SUBOTICA PROMOTED WITHIN THE YOUTH DAY CELEBRATIONS


In the framework of the Balkan regional platform for youth participation and dialogue LDA Subotica opened its Youth Info Point,  located at the Open University building in the premises of the Agency.
Activities of the Subotica Info point were promoted at the local event for the International Youth Day, 12 August. Organized by the local Youth Office the event took place in the Ferenc Reichl Park in Subotica.

The Balkan Platform celebrates the International Youth Day: Video on YOUTH PARTICIPATION.

To celebrate the International Youth Day, the Balkan Platform for youth participation and dialogue is proudly presenting the winner of the video contest on the topic of “YOUTH PARTICIPATION”. The contest for video on youth participation was launched in May and was open to all youngsters from Balkan Region.  In the awarded video two young activists from Niksic, Montenegro, explain their vision of what “youth participation” is, in a simple but very friendly and eye-catching way. Their creativity and engagement will be awarded with the chance to travel and participate to the Local Democracy Forum in Subotica, Serbia.

CULTURE OF PEACE: YOUTH AS PEACEBUILDERS
-YOUTH’S INNOVATIVE MINDS FOR PEACE AND PROSPERITY-
Belgrade, 24-25 October 2015

In accordance with the recommendations that were made in II Youth Forum, the ECPD Academic Council decided that III Youth Forum needs to focus on conflict prevention, conflict resolution and maintenance of peace, with the accent on the knowledge and skills that will contribute to understanding, tolerance and long-term peace among all countries and nations.

Youth needs to be supported as builders of peace and democracy, and their potential and power have to be developed in order to sustain a process of change. The main purpose of the III ECPD Youth Forum entitled “CULTURE OF PEACE: YOUTH AS PEACEBUILDERS” is to equip young people with new knowledge, information and skills required for peacebuilding as well as for conflict prevention, and to improve individual’s ability to resolve conflict and interact peacefully with others.

Youth job shadowing opportunities in Macedonia

In the framework of the Balkan regional platform for youth participation and dialogue project, from 17th – 31st August 2015, Dino Sinapovic, youth worker from LDA Zavidovici was on job shadowing in Macedonia. He spent his first week in the office of ALDA Skopje, partner in the project, and the second week in the Municipality of Vevcani, one of the host cities in the regional platform.
